Turmeric for detoxification!!!


Detoxification is the biochemical process that transforms non-water-soluble toxins and metabolites into water-soluble compounds that can be excreted in urine, sweat, bile or stool. Our body undergoes lots of wear and tear both inside and outside. Hence, body has to be detoxified in order for it to function properly and to promote general health and well-being. 

Turmeric for detoxification!!!

Turmeric being an integral part of Indian cooking is an important food substance that helps liver in its detox processes and is well known for its antiseptic properties. Turmeric is rich in sulphur and has glutathione (compound) that helps to get rid of liver’s harmful toxins.

How it Effect on Liver

The agent that gives turmeric its bright yellow color contains a powerful phytochemical component known as curcumin.  curcumin stimulates production of bile by the gallbladder. The liver uses bile to eliminate toxins; bile also rejuvenates liver cells that breakdown harmful compounds. For this reason, turmeric has been used in Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine to treat digestion and liver disorders.


Tips: Turmeric can be added in clear soups, gravies and rasam without seasoning.

I have been reading about this, but it has been such a strange thought that this random spice that I have in my cupboard has such amazing benefits – but really that is what you story sais: we do not need all these pills and potions; eating good food prepared from scratch has all the goodness in it we need. Fabulous post!
