Coffee destroys the enzyme salivary amylase in saliva when taken along with your meals. Starch breakdown requires salivary amylase for digestion.
Tip: Have your favourite coffee or tea 30 min after your food, so that it does not interfere with your digestion as well as nutrient absorption.
