Coffee and tea affect on digestion

Coffee and tea can cause a premature emptying of the stomach and thus cause foods to leave the stomach before gastric digestion is complete. Contains Tannic acid which inhibits starch digestion. Coffee destroys the enzyme salivary amylase in saliva when taken along with your meals. Starch breakdown requires salivary amylase for digestion.

Tip: Have your favourite coffee or tea 30 min after your food, so that it does not interfere with your digestion as well as nutrient absorption.
