Improve Digestive Health

Watch Your Diet for a Healthy Gut:

  • Stay away from foods or limit ones that irritate your digestive system.

  • Some people have problems with gassy foods like grams, dals and soda or fatty items like fried foods and cheese.

  • For others, acidic foods like citrus, coffee, tea and tomatoes can trouble.

  • Soaking of dals and grams avoids gases. Know your digestive system and act accordingly.

Stop Smoking to Stop Heartburn:

  • Smoking weakens the valve at the end of the esophagus, which can lead to acid reflux and heart burn.

  • And it increases the risk of various gastrointestinal cancers.

  • Smokers also have higher risks of developing peptic ulcer and crohn’s disease than non-smokers.

Coffee and tea affect on digestion

Coffee and tea can cause a premature emptying of the stomach and thus cause foods to leave the stomach before gastric digestion is complete. Contains Tannic acid which inhibits starch digestion. Coffee destroys the enzyme salivary amylase in saliva when taken along with your meals. Starch breakdown requires salivary amylase for digestion.

Tip: Have your favourite coffee or tea 30 min after your food, so that it does not interfere with your digestion as well as nutrient absorption.
